Joint Inflammation

Despite being often considered mechanical devices, the biological response to joint replacement implants is of critical importance. We are particularly interested in the inflammatory processes that occur around implants, including synovitis, arthrofibrosis, infection, and adverse reactions to metal or polyethylene debris. We study these reactions using medical imaging (MRI and PET/MRI) as well as in tissue samples acquired during surgery.
