Matthew Teeter, PhD

Dr. Matthew Teeter is Interim Director of the Western Bone and Joint Institute and an Associate Professor in the Departments of Medical Biophysics, Medical Imaging, and Surgery, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University in London, Ontario, Canada. He is also a Scientist at the Robarts Research Institute where he is the Director of CenTRI — the Centre for Translational Radiographic Imaging, and Scientist and an Assistant Scientific Director at the Lawson Health Research Institute.

Dr. Teeter leads a research program focused on enhancing patient mobility and quality of life after joint replacement through the development and application of medical imaging and digital technologies. Dr. Teeter received a BSc in Biomedical Science from the University of Guelph and a PhD in Medical Biophysics from Western University. His research has received numerous recognitions including a CIHR New Investigator Award, Ontario Early Researcher Award, the Polanyi Prize in Physiology/Medicine, Coventry Award from the Knee Society, Neer Award from the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, and an Early Career Researcher Award from the Arthritis Alliance of Canada. Dr. Teeter is Past President of the International Society for Technology in Arthroplasty, Program Chair of the Canadian Orthopaedic Research Society, and Vice-President of the Canadian RSA Network. With surgeon collaborators he has launched multiple companies to commercialization innovations from the Teeter Lab. Dr. Teeter was also a co-founder and served as inaugural co-director of the Western Medical Innovation Fellowship program, and currently serves as a mentor to the Fellows.
