Matthew Teeter, PhD

Dr. Matthew Teeter is Director of the Bone and Joint Institute at Western University in London, Ontario, Canada. He holds a Western Research Chair and is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Medical Biophysics, Medical Imaging, and Surgery within the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. He is also a Scientist at the London Health Sciences Centre Research Institute, and holds an appointment as an Adjunct Associate Scientist at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.

Dr. Teeter leads a research program advancing precision medical imaging for musculoskeletal health, developing quantitative biomarkers that link imaging, biomechanics, and biology to improve joint replacement and osteoarthritis outcomes. His team collaborates with industry and clinicians to translate these discoveries into next-generation implants, therapies, and digital technologies that enhance patient mobility and quality of life.

Dr. Teeter received a BSc in Biomedical Science from the University of Guelph and a PhD in Medical Biophysics from Western University. His research has received numerous recognitions including a CIHR New Investigator Award, Ontario Early Researcher Award, the Polanyi Prize in Physiology/Medicine, Coventry Award from the Knee Society, Neer Award from the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, and an Early Career Researcher Award from the Arthritis Alliance of Canada. Dr. Teeter is Past President of the International Society for Technology in Arthroplasty, Past President of the Canadian Orthopaedic Research Society, and Vice-President of the Canadian RSA Network. He is a member of the Knee Society.
